Your first stop is the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, one of the most renowned botanical gardens in Asia. After breakfast, Begin your sightseeing tour with a visit to Viharamahadevi Park, the largest and most well-known public park in Colombo. Located near the National Museum, the park offers a peaceful environment with lush greenery, flowering trees, and well-maintained pathways.
Then proceed to Galle Face Green, is a wide, open promenade that stretches along the Indian Ocean. It’s a popular spot for both locals and tourists to unwind, especially during sunset. You can take a leisurely walk along the beach, enjoy local street food. After a stroll along Galle Face Green, head to Independence Memorial Hall in Cinnamon Gardens. This neoclassical building commemorates Sri Lanka’s independence from British colonial rule in 1948. See the Old Parliament Building. It is an important historical landmark in Colombo, located at the end of Galle Face Green.
No visit to Colombo is complete without experiencing the Gangaramaya Temple, one of the most significant Buddhist temples in the city. The temple complex features an array of architecture, combining Sri Lankan, Thai, Indian, and Chinese influences.
End your day with a visit to one of Colombo’s beautiful beaches, such as Mount Lavinia Beach or Negombo Beach. These beaches are perfect for a relaxing evening, where you can enjoy a refreshing drink at a beachside café while watching the sunset over the Indian Ocean.
